It's been 15 years since the 90s ended and yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the Nataraj pencils and the Doordarshan channel that every kid watched on Sunday before the family decided to cable.
#90sBaccheyRemember is the top Twitter trend on Friday where people are sharing their 'nostalgic' memories of being a kid in the 1990s.
Yes, we get it. There's comfort in nostalgia but seriously, aren't you glad that some of these things from the 90s are ancient history?
1. Ink pens, and the stains
Every morning before you went to school, you had to make sure that your fountain pen is full on ink. You may get nostalgic about it, but remember how slow it would be to take those dictation tests? And, by the end of school, you would look like you have played Holi ONLY with blue colour. Thank God, ball point pens came to our rescue.
2. Kajol and Karishma's eyebrows
Some of our Bollywood actresses didn't seem to believe in threading and may have taken Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons as their role model.
Thankfully it was just a phase.
3. Dial up connection
"Mom, I am on the Internet, get off the phone." No, even if there are thousands of articles that list this as one of the things Indian kids miss about the 90s, we are sure you really don't.
4. Shirtless Sunil Shetty
Need we say more?
5. Bell-bottoms trend channeled by Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna
There is a possibly a picture in every household where your father and his best friend are seen standing next to each other, in erm...bell bottoms. The trend that was started by Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna was followed by the entire till the late 90s. Thankfully, wisdom dawned upon people and the country discovered pants that were of different shapes.
They say fashion makes a comeback but we are glad that this one didn't.
6. Mysore Sandal soap
Yes, we agree this is one fragrance that makes everyone nostalgic. But, hey, aren't you happy you have shower gels to replace them?
7. Keep waiting for the next song in your walkman
Yes, when we first got our Walkmans we probably it was the coolest thing man could invent. But, must admit, in the iPod age, we wouldn't really want one of those devices.
It had only three buttons--Play, Stop and Fast Forward. And, it wouldn't stop at the next track.
You had to finish one whole bus ride just to listen to Backstreet Boys sing they're back, alright. Phew.
