The selfie that is doing the rounds on the Internet today, and is being hailed as the 'selfie of the year,' is of people celebrating the Dahi Handi.
Dahi Handi is celebrated to mark the occasion of Janmashthami in which 'Govindas' form human pyramids to break an earthen pot filled with curd hanging mid-air.
In the photo, a group of young boys are seen standing on top of each other. The boy on top, who is supposed to break the Handi is holding a selfie stick.
And, social media has hailed the picture as the 'Selfie of the year.'
While this may be the craziest selfie of all time, fitting in more people in the frame than even Ellen DeGeneres' epic Oscar selfie, it may not have been the safest thing to do.
Despite local police circulars asking 'Govindas' to follow safety precautions and wear helmets and safety belts, this year, one person died and as many as 129 people were injured in Mumbai during the celebrations.
Among the injured in the city was a 10-year-old boy, Ankush Sahani from Kurla, who was admitted in Sion Hospital for X-Ray examinations. In 2014, 360 Govindas were reportedly injured.
A DNA report notes as many as 58 patients were evaluated in the Outpatient Department (OPD) and six were admitted, one in orthopaedic department and five in surgery.
Given that the nature of the festival is in itself dangerous, maybe a selfie to frame the moment isn't a great idea.

Hahaha just imagine the guy right on top taking a selfie instead of breaking the dahi handi...what a terrific pic that would be!
