Viren Rasquinha, the ex- Indian Hockey team captain and Arjuna Awardee is the CEO of Olympic Gold Quest, a non profit organization helping India in its quest for a Gold medal in the Olympics. The organization was conceptualized by sports veterans Prakash Padukone and Geet Sethi and is being spearheaded by Viren. “It was the lack of the right eco system and environment for sportsmen in India that led to the birth of Olympic Gold Quest,” says Viren.

The organization helps create a strong foundation for sportsmen by providing them the right equipment, training facilities and exposure. There are 70 athletes across age groups who get support for OGQ. Each athlete is extensively researched upon both from a qualitative and a quantitative aspect before he/ she is bought under the umbrella of OGQ. “We scout for the right talent – someone who is best in India and then bridge the gap between being best in India to being the best in the world,” explains Viren.

A sportsman himself, a seasoned management graduate he never could give up on his dream of winning a Gold. “ I too had the dream of bringing back a gold medal, but it’s not that simple. Every star sportsman has a team of star performers working behind the scenes who, help him reach the Gold medal. It a collective team effort and at OGQ we help put that team together. Every time we see a Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Mary Kom reach the pinnacle we all get closer to our dream”, he sums up.
