Captain MS Dhoni Shoves Bangla Bowler Out Of The Way To Complete His Run

Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni showed his fans that when push comes to shove, he won't stop at anything.

The Indian skipper was involved in a small accident on Thursday, where he was seen shoving debutant Bangla bowler Mustafizur Rahman aside, in a bid to complete his quick single.

In the 25th over, Rahman was seen wandering in Dhoni's path, just as the Indian skipper was about to complete his run. In a bid to save time, Dhoni, however, rammed straight into the 19-year-old bowler and pushed him out of the way, finishing the run quickly.

Dhoni, fondly called ‘Captain Cool’ for his ability to keep calm under pressure, surprised cricket fans with his seemingly unsportsman-like conduct on Thursday. But it could have been prompted by the fact that Rahman had been getting in the skipper's way repeatedly.

On Friday, however, Dhoni shed some light on what actually happened.

"The bowler (Mustafizur) thought I would move away while I thought he would. But as none of us did, we collided because I had to take the closest path possible getting to the other end. If I am going around the bowler, more often than not they'll get the batsman out. So either I should have moved to the right or he should have moved to the left but both of us thought maybe the other guy will, but we ended up with a, what you can say, a typical kind of a street clash,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by PTI.

"Thankfully he didn't get injured, and I didn't get injured. I think this can happen in any match. It's nothing big. I spoke to him later," said the Indian captain.

All this hurry, however, didn't help the Indian team much, in the end. Bangladesh won the first one-dayer in the three-match series by 79 runs.
