Things That Will Happen If Twitter Increases Its 140-Character Limit, As Told By Tweeters

Brevity is the soul of wit, said William Shakespeare. So when news broke that Twitter is working on a new product that will allow users to share tweets longer than 140 characters, tweeps speculated that the future of the micro-blogging site may be in jeopardy.

The announcement was met with disbelief, relief and derision in equal parts. Some tweeters even predicted that the site will begin to look like Facebook if longer tweets are allowed. Or worse, MySpace.




The 140-character limit has always been a bummer for users who claimed it cramped their style while responding to debates and arguments online. So it's understandable that some of these tweeps have plans. And then some, as is routine with the site, are simply having a good laugh.
