In a scene straight out of the 2003 film Munnabhai MBBS, medical staff in a hospital in Ahmedabad probably thought it would be great idea to cheer patients up by doing a garba routine right in the middle of the sterile Intensive Care Unit ward. The bemused patients at the at the Sola Civil Hospital looked on as the dancing row of nurses, patients and ward boys navigated the gap between the rows of beds, smiles plastered on their faces.

The hospital is not happy at the incident.

"This shouldn't have happened, we've sent a notice to the employees involved," HK Bhawsar, MS, told Times Now. The Finance, Medical Education and Health and Family Welfare Minister of Gujarat, Nitinbhai Patel, had inaugurated a new dialysis centre in the hospital, reported DNA. As soon as he left, the hospital staff put on loud music in the ward and started doing the garba steps.

An ABP video posted on YouTube showed some of the people performing the dance had shoes on in the over-crowded ICU, decked with green and orange balloons.

Bhawsar said there was no garba event planned.

Garba is a Gujarati dance form performed during the nine-day Hindu festival of Navaratri. The hit film starring Sanjay Dutt in the titular role, shows the protagonist, a gangster with a heart of gold, sneak a woman dancer into a hospital ward in collusion with the medical staff to cheer up a terminally ill patient.
