For as long as IPL existed, Mahendra Sigh Dhoni has been synonymous with the Chennai Super Kings. With CSK having to bow out of the league, the cricketers fans must have been worrying themselves sick over the future of their star in the IPL.

However, Dhoni's fans may finally have reason to cheer. According to reports, the cricketing star is all set to join one of the two new teams that will debut in the upcoming IPL season.

The right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper has decided to join another team, since CSK has been banned from the IPL for two years, said a report in The Times of India.

Dhoni, who had been bought by the India Cements' CSK during the 2008 auction for Rs 7.5 crore, has been playing for them for the last eight seasons.

Quoting an anonymous source, the TOI report says that the CSK are not stopping him from leaving the team."Dhoni will definitely feature in the IPL for a new team... The next edition of the IPL will see him in action... He is the Indian captain in ODIs and T20. How can he not play in an important event like the IPL?" the source told TOI.

In fact, the same source even added, that if Dhoni would still be playing after two IPL seasons, the CSK might even buy him back.

Reportedly, there are two IPL teams who are very interested in having Dhoni onboard, but the names have not been revealed yet. In fact, according to the report, among six players from CSK and RR are ‘being inducted into the two new franchises’.

Two teams from IPL, the CSK and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) had been banned from playing in the IPL for the next two years after they were found guilty for of betting, according to a July 2014 judgement. The BCCI then decided to invite fresh bids to replace the two teams, and after two years, from 2018 onwards, IPL would be a ten-team affair.
