Dilli Haat Will Celebrate The 'Organic' Efforts Of Over 500 Women Farmers This Month

An exhibition showcasing products like aromas, flavours and vibrant colours brought together by over 500 women farmers, weavers, artisans from across the country to promote organic farming will be inaugurated by Union Ministers Maneka Gandhi and Radha Mohan Singh on November 13 at Dilli Haat, in Delhi.

The exhibition with the theme 'Women and Organic Products' will be organised by Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry from November 13 to 23.

"This year, the exhibition will involve sale and exhibition of organic products be it food or other eco-friendly products mainly exhibited by various women's groups and women entrepreneurs from Delhi, NCR and all states of India, especially from rural areas," senior WCD official said.

The main aim of the exhibition is to support and encourage women and women-led groups which promote organic farming thus supporting local community s economy, creating jobs and keeping farmers thriving and in addition spreading awareness in the community about the benefits of organic products.

"It is for the first time that women artisans and entrepreneurs in such large number have come together with their organic products, such as tribal and ethnic foods, pickles and preserves, rice, pulses, spices, vegetables and fruits, fabrics, dyes and dresses, cosmetics and household products, in the exhibition," he said.

Some of the other organic products for sale will include cereals, oils, honey, tea, hair care, bath care, beauty care, aromatherapy products, organic cotton fabric, linen, organic seeds and bio products among others.

Besides organic produce, people will also get an opportunity to taste a variety of home-cooked snacks and organic food cooked on the spot. The entry to the exhibition will be free on all days of the exhibition.
