Ever since the video of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau rocking the dance floor with some mean bhangra moves surfaced, he seems to have become a favourite of sorts with Indians across the world.

And Trudeau seems keen on keeping that reputation intact, if his recent activities are anything to go by.

In a first of sorts for a Canadian Prime Minister, Trudeau visited the Hindu Temple and Gurdwara Saheb in Ottawa to celebrate Diwali. Members of the Indo-Canadian community turned up in great numbers to greet Trudeau.

"Member of Parliament from Ottawa Chandra Arya, welcomed PM Trudeau on arrival at the temple along with the temple President. High Commissioner Vishnu Prakash congratulated the Prime Minister on his election, observing that he was honouring 1.2 billion Indians and the large Indo-Canadian community by celebrating Diwali with them," the High Commission of India in Ottawa said in a statement.

The Prime Minister participated in the puja at the temple and the Gurbani recital at the Gurdwara, before addressing the congregation at both places, reported ANI.

Trudeau also mingled with members of the community, obliging scores of them with selfies and pictures. He spent over forty-five minutes each at both venues.

In fact, Trudeau has always hit it off with the Indian origin residents of Canada. He had made rotis for a langar in Canada in 2013, much to the delight of the Indians living there.

This year, the Canadian parliament saw Indian-origin citizens doubling their representation from eight to 19. In fact, three Sikh men were selected to be a part of Prime Minister Trudeau's new 30-member cabinet last week.
