NEW DELHI--The Delhi Assembly witnessed huge drama on Monday as BJP MLA Vijender Gupta was physically hauled out by marshals, for sloganeering and disrupting the house protesting the suspension of party colleague OP Sharma last week.
When the Speaker, Ram Niwas Goel, asked Gupta to leave the House after he started shouting slogans, he refused. After this, the marshals were summoned to evict Gupta, who resisted and held on for a while, before being ousted.
Gupta in turn has alleged that he was verbally- and physically-abused by AAP MLAs and the marshals respectively.
The incident occurred on a day Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was scheduled to introduce the Delhi Janlokpal Bill 2015 in the House.
Before his eviction, Gupta accused the Speaker of being partial towards the AAP alleging that the three BJP legislators were abused and assaulted by AAP members. "But no action has been taken against them," he claimed.
He added that Goel's action was unwarranted, as the House had important business lined up for the day, including the tabling of the Janlokpal Bill. BJP member Jagdish Pradhan also walked out of the House following Gupta's eviction.
Gupta is the second BJP MLA to be suspended after O P Sharma's suspension last week.
Sharma was suspended for the entire Winter Session of the Assembly after his alleged passed derogatory remarks against AAP MLA Alka Lamba.
