'Jurassic World' Grosses Rs 100 Crore In India

'Jurassic World', the fourth film in the 'Jurassic Park' film series, has grossed Rs 100 crores at the Indian box-office.

The Colin Trevorrow-directed adventure extravaganza saw a multi-lingual pan-India release entered the elite Rs 100 crore club in its third week.

It released in 2,108 screens in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Irrfan Khan.

Only four other films — Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', the Tamil films 'I' and 'Kanchana 2', and 'Furious 7' — have gone past the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box-office this year.

"Being the true sequel to 'Jurassic Park', the movie brings a sense of nostalgia for Indian audiences. Moreover, the adventurous theme of the movie can be enjoyed by all age groups together, which has helped in draw family audiences to the theaters. First 'Furious 7' and now 'Jurassic World', the summer has shown that India is establishing itself as a big market for Hollywood content," Universal Pictures India stated in a statement.

'Jurassic World' took place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar, where a now fully-functioning dinosaur theme park has been in operation for ten years. The film narrates the 22-years after the events of 'Jurassic Park'.
