According to reports, the patent that was published on December, features an illustration of a watch-like device that uses a micro particle embedded in an accelerator barrel to pierce the skin with the help of pressurised gas. Once the blood emerges, it shall be sucked up into a negative pressure barrel that houses the accelerator barrel.

When asked about this concept as a means to aid people with diabetes –- the company said it is working on two devices to help diabetics monitor their glucose levels.

A Google spokesperson told Verge: “We hold patents on a variety of ideas — some of those ideas later mature into real products or services, some don't. Prospective product announcements should not necessarily be inferred from our patents.”

Guess we’ll have to wait and ‘watch’.
