Chinese handset manufacturer OnePlus announced a permanent price cut to the OnePlus One on Monday.
The news follows a $50 discount that was rolled out las week internationally, which was well received. The company was able to bring down the cost of components, engineering and assembly to make the price cut permanent, according to their blog post. "We want to ensure that all of our fans have the opportunity to get the Flagship Killer at this special price, which leads us to some big news: the OnePlus One now starts at $249, permanently." OnePlus wrote.
The One Plus One now has a starting price of $249, while the 64 GB version costs $349, and bundles 1 TB of storage space on Dropbox. The offer is only valid in US, Canada and EU, and will be valid on purchases made after June 10.
Unfortunately, these price cuts will not be rolled out in India in the near future, according to a spokesperson at OnePlus India.
Announced in April 2014, and dubbed ‘the flagship killer’, OnePlus One has been available without an invite since mid-April this year.
Priced at Rs 18,998 and 21,998 for the 16 and 64 GB versions, the OnePlus One has a 5.5-HD Full HD display, 3 GB RAM, quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and a 3100 mAh battery. The device has a 13 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera, and runs on Cyanogen 11S, based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
