The Supreme Court has banned the registration of diesel-run sport utility vehicles (SUV) and cars having 2000 cc engines in Delhi and NCR from March 1, 2016, PTI reported.
The apex court has also raised by 100 per cent the green cess being levied on commercial vehicles entering Delhi. Commercial vehicles, which are not Delhi bound, will not be allowed to enter national capital through entry points NH-8 and NH-1, PTI said.
Commercial vehicles registered before 2005 cannot enter Delhi and only CNG-run taxis will be allowed to ply in the national capital and NCR, the SC said.
