While India is likely to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday, Muslims in different parts of the world are already celebrating the festival on Tuesday.
Countries like Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, Germany and Russia celebrated with the morning prayers and food.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month of the holy month of Ramzan when Muslims across the world fast from sunrise to sunset. The ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar, it is also a celebration of the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.
Eid, which is the first day of the month of Shawwal, is usually marked by the morning prayers followed by celebrations with family.
