Political strategist Prashant Kishor is likely to start working with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress in a month, according to news reports.
Both ANI and NDTV reported that Kishor had been roped in by Banerjee, who is still recovering from the shocking setback faced by her party in the recent Lok Sabha election—the TMC’s seat tally dropped to 22 from 34 in 2014, while the BJP won 17 seats, up from 2 in 2014.
Since the election results, a visibly shaken Banerjee has been exchanging barbs with BJP leaders. The chief minister had claimed before the elections that she was confident that the BJP won’t be able to make in-roads in the state.
Most recently, Kishor managed Jagan Mohan Reddy’s successful campaign in Andhra Pradesh, where the YSR Congress scored big in both the Lok Sabha and state assembly results.
