Yoga is not only good for the body, but is also supposed to calm the mind. But if a video from an event at Rohtak to mark International Yoga Day from Rohtak is anything to go by, the participants found no chill from the session.

All hell broke loose after the event, led by Home Minister Amit Shah and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, ended. The participants decided that they wanted the yoga mats that were provided to them at the event, and hence decided to, erm, just steal them in broad daylight.

The video of the bizarre incident shows participants pushing each other and playing tug-of-war with the yoga mats as people wearing Haryana police t-shirts walk around like there is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. At one point, three people wrestle for one yoga mat.

In the background, an announcer can be heard speaking to the participants, accompanied by soothing music.

While Shah had said during the event that yoga kept the body and mind healthy and India should show the world how to lead a healthy life, the rogue yoga participants did not leave much to show off, really.

The video made one wonder why people would so desperately want these particular mats. Were they extra comfy? What made them go from Anulom Vilom to ‘My Precioussss’?

Moral of the story — maybe we need an International Day of Abiding by Rules before we preach anything to the world? Until then, let’s meditate about the events from today.
