NEW DELHI -- Continuing to target Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said the former must definitely undergo a lie detector test as he made many contradictory statements in connection with the murder case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar and interfered in the probe.

"Yes he (Shashi Tharoor) has to take the test as he had many contradictory statements and they are false and he has certain peculiar behavior. For example on the day when Sunanda's body was subjected to autopsy and post-mortem, he moved into the All India Medical Institute where it was being conducted. Then he started sending emails to the director that this is the way you can show a natural death and so on," Swamy told ANI.

"So, he was trying to interfere with the investigation, which was a crime in itself. And there were many other things like he somehow manage to get the body cremated within 24 hours of her death. And there were other factors, which he didn't tell the police about and, therefore, the lie detector test is necessary," he added.

The investigators probing Sunanda's murder case are questioning the suspects afresh.

As per reports, Tharoor's driver and help Bajrangi and Narain Singh, family friend Sanjay Dewan and the doctor, who had examined Sunanda, are being questioned.

Tharoor is also likely to be called in for questioning and may also have to undergo the lie-detector test.

In January last year, the Delhi Police had registered a case of murder in connection with Sunanda's death. An AIIMS medical board had found poisoning as the reason for her death following which the police had sent her viscera samples to an FBI lab in the US.

Sunanda, who married Tharoor in 2010, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a room at the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi on 17 January, 2014.
