Jat Protests: Haryana CM Calls For Meeting To Discuss Demands Of Leaders

ROHTAK -- With tensions rising in Rohtak due to ongoing protest by the Jat community over their demands of reservation, the administration on Friday blocked the mobile internet services in Jhajjar and Rohtak.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has also called for an all-party meeting to discuss the demands of Jat community leaders, who are agitating across the state seeking reservation in government jobs under Other Backward Classes or OBC category.

Violence had broken broke out during the protest in Rohtak yesterday, leaving at least 15 persons injured, the administration clamped prohibitory orders in the district by imposing Section 144 of CrPC to avert any further deterioration in law and order situation.

Police and paramilitary forces resorted to lathicharge and teargas shells to control the situation after some unidentified people torched motorcycles and pelted stones during clashes.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped in Rohtak, banning assembly of five or more persons.
