The members of Parliament have a new challenge. No, it's not about passing a bill or trying to control parliamentarians throwing things at each other. This time, the overwhelming presence of monkeys and dogs in MPs’ residential areas has become a major menace.
Our MPs are so troubled, they have now put out an advertisement in newspapers inviting suggestions from people on "management of monkeys and dogs in MPs' residential area of Delhi."
The advertisement reads, “The House Committee, Rajya Sabha, which has been entrusted with the mandate to provide accommodation and other amenities to Rajy Sabha members, is studying in detail the management of monkeys and dogs in MPs’ residential areas in Delhi.”
The committee is seeking views and suggestions in the management of monkeys and dogs from the "various stake holders" and "those possessing expertise in the relevant field.”

Like all other applications, one is supposed to follow a general set of instructions to send in their suggestions. They will have to send "two copies" of the memoranda, "neatly typed" in either English or Hindi and within 15 days of publication.
However, this is not the first time that suggestions on the issue have been sought.
Last year, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had reportedly asked a Gujarat-based NGO for suggestions on alternative methods to deal with the stray animals.
Monkeys and dogs have been troubling our parliamentarians for a while now.
Over the years, several steps have been taken to resolve the issue. First, dog catchers were employed to circulate the grounds. The NDMC then acquired Sure Shot Rubber Bullet Guns to scare away the monkeys.
There was even talk of trained persons disguising themselves as langurs to scare away the menacing monkeys.
In fact, the MPs have themselves reportedly tried to solve the issue by pooling in together and hiring people to scare away the animals.
Clearly, all these seem to have failed and now the Parliamentarians are seeking people's help to solve the major 'management problem.'
