NEW DELHI -- On Thursday, a Delhi court rejected the bail application of former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, who has been charged with cheating and forgery over his alleged fake law degree.
The court deferred the next hearing till June 16.
Tomar, who was arrested on Tuesday, is presently under the custody of the Delhi police.

The court said that it was not in a position to take a call on the bail plea since it was not in possession of the relevant documents. Further, both the accused and the investigating officer were not in Delhi, NDTV reported.
The police are presently investigating Tomar's claims that he received his Bachelor of Science degree from RML Avadh University in Faizabad, and his LLB degree from Biswanath Singh Institute of Legal Studies in Munger, which is recognised by Tilak Manjhi Bhagalpur University of Bihar.
Tomar's arrest and investigation is a huge embarrassment for the Aam Aadmi Party, which had initially backed the claim of its minister until he resigned on Tuesday.
RML Avadh University has said that it has no record of Tomar's degree.
"One Pradeep Kumar had filed an RTI asking for verification of a set of documents related to Tomar's mark sheets and degree. The university had replied on January 22 saying it had nothing of that sort in its records. We stand by our previous stand," said its spokesperson S N Shukla, PTI reported.
The Delhi police have now taken Tomar to Munger. The former Delhi minister maintains that he is being framed by political opponents.
"My degree is absolutely genuine. It is a conspiracy by BJP and the central government. Yes, They are not letting AAP government work," he told reporters.
