The Additional District Judge (ADJ) court of Jaipur on Tuesday issued summons to former IPL chief Lalit Modi and his family in connection with the purchase of two havelis in Amber by fraudulent means. The lower court has summoned Lalit Modi's wife Minal Modi, his uncle Sajjan Kumar Modi and Satya Narayan Singh, a director of his company, regarding the issue.

The court has directed the Lalit Modi and the others to appear in its premises personally.

According to the petitioner Sandeep Bhatra, despite knowing that the properties belong to the government, Modi had purchased the two havelis in Amber for Rs 9 lakh and 21 lakh each in April 2007.

Modi had purchased the properties after mooting a company named Heritage City Construction Private Limited during the previous BJP government under Vasundhara Raje, reports Times Of India.

The petitioner had approached the court with the same complaint earlier in 2010. However, it was dismissed then on the ground that the matter was being investigated by the anti-corruption department.

Now the petitioner has approached the court for initiating criminal proceedings against Lait Modi.

The next hearing is on September 3.
