15 Years Of 'Dil Chahta Hai': 5 Scenes That Still Make Us LOL

On Sunday, Farhan Akhtar posted a picture of the first shot that was rolled for his directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai (2001) on Twitter.

The film — starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Akshaye Khanna, Sonali Kulkarni, and Dimple Kapadia — was a runaway hit and became an instant Hindi cinema classic. Even now, 14 years after its release, it is remembered as a 'game-changing' film that broke ground for the manner in which it portrayed India's urban, upwardly mobile youth and their relationships. Its glossy aesthetics and matter-of-fact writing set the foundation for a number of romantic comedies that were made over the next decade or so.

Nearly 14 years later, Dil Chahta Hai continues to strike a chord with viewers. Here are a few scenes from the film that will always have a special place in our hearts.

1. "Mard ban, be a man!"

2. "Tujhe kya lagta hai, main roz iss takiye pe baithta hoon?"

3. "I hate economics."

4. "Shaayad uske bathroom jaane ka time hai."

5. "Subodh, tumhe time yaad nahi hai?"

*Pretends to stab every filmmaker who attempts to cash in on this movie's epicness instead of trying to make something original*
