It's an understatement to say that Salman Khan's upcoming Sultan has taken social media by storm.
Ever since its online poster debut and the subsequent premiere of the film's teaser, Bhai fans are going nuts over, well, Bhai. A hurricane has hit the Interwebz with Sultan-driven hashtags climbing popularity-charts. Yep, that sounds about right.
Like this guy.
However, what also became a matter of intense debate on Twitter was the fact that the film's poster makes Khan look like he has some serious issues with his neck, a point this user rightfully raised.
And on which film critic Rajeev Masand made a fair observation.
To figure out what exactly happened there, HuffPost India reached out to the film's director Ali Abbas Zafar, who was shooting portions of the film in Delhi. When we asked him why the poster looked so, um, weird, and whether it was Photoshop gone horribly wrong, Zafar said, "In wrestling, you have certain movements and the poster tries to capture one such unique move. It's his body with his face. I can assure you that there isn't any photoshop work other than basic colour correction which we had to do to make it look a little rustic."
What did he make of the several thousand posts that suggested some technical goof-up? "I read and had a good laugh over it," he said. "I know people are thinking we've put his face on someone else's body, but hey, he's looking the same in the teaser too. Nobody had a problem with that!"
Which made us ask him about this other piece of (somewhat suspicious) information doing the rounds of several news-outlets: does Shah Rukh Khan feature in a cameo appearance in Sultan ? "No way!" came the prompt response.
For those who had their hopes up for a Karan-Arjun reunion.
