Govinda, widely regarded as one of the finest dancers Bollywood has ever seen, pretty much disappeared from the arc lights. His last major film roles were in 2014 - Happy Ending and Kill Dill, both of which crashed at the box-office.
After that, the actor has been very low-key, with almost no public appearances and no new film announcements. His role in Anurag Basu's Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Jagga Jasoos, which has been in the making for over two years now, has also been marred by controversy, with multiple reports of his tardiness.
But on 9 May, a video titled 'Dance Like Govinda' by Punjabi singer-lyricist Jassi Sidhu surfaced online. The clip is quite campy, with a bunch of folks trying their hand at dancing awkwardly, but there is a payoff for your perseverance. At 2:44, Govinda makes an entry and there is much joy to be had in watching the inimitable actor move like he was born to.
Which is not to say that this is the best he's ever danced - no, it doesn't even come close, but it does go on to show how badly we miss Govinda in the movies.
